A Look at Luke Binder’s Leader Renovatio

This Leader Renovatio features a 100mm Thomson stem clamped to a radically shaped Leader prototype carbon handlebar. The bars feature a textured surface but Luke adds tape on the tops for extra grip.

For the deadflat and nontechnical Shortline Crit Luke opted for some French 19mm Wolber Coton clincher tires mounted to H plus Son 32H rims and Dura Ace medium flange hubs. A rather heavy set up that, for hwat it lacks in lightness, it makes up for in stiffness and reliability.

The race setup featured a 52T Dura Ace track chainring paired with a 15T Dura Ace cog giving a rather conservative gear ratio of 93.6 gear inches. In this photo we see a 50T FSA chainring used by Luke for training. A gold 1/8″ Izumi chain powers the drivetrain and sets off nicely with the yellow sidewalls of the tires.

Another Leader prototype component…the otherwise unmarked Leader crankset features external bearings and a large diameter crank shaft for increased stiffness under load. The crank arms measure 165mm. Luke uses the Time Xpress pedals for a secure cleat/pedal engagement under both foward and backward pedaling pressure.

Luke’s Fizik Aliante saddle is well worn.

In this build you get to see two of Leaders new prototypes, what are your thoughts on the build.
